27SK OPEN LAB: Dig into High Availability Journal Enablers

= Award Winning Session | = AIX | = IBM i | = Linux

Tuesday, May 4, 2010: 5:00 PM-6:15 PM
Lake Mizell B (Hilton Orlando)

Session Abstract:
During this lab exercise you'll have the opportunity to try out journal features specifically aimed at making high availability less burdensome to enable, less overhead, and more robust. New commands and keywords developed for HA users will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Try out the STRJRNLIB command so that an entire library takes on the journal inheritance attribute.
  2. Enable cyclic redundancy support so that undetected TCP/IP garbling is no longer a risk.
  3. Try out techniques for adjusting the frequency of memory flushing so that you can tune your journal to your recovery and performance needs.

Audience:
Folks responsible for setting up high availability protection.
